Which abaya fabric should you choose?
Nida is the gold standard for abayas in the Gulf: a lightweight polyester blend, soft, breathable and elegant in the heat. Crepe has a twisted, textured surface that resists wrinkles, which suits office wear. Linen and cotton are the coolest natural options for peak summer. Silk, satin and layered chiffon are reserved for evening occasions.
A fabric photograph tells you nothing about how a cloth hangs. This is the honest version of what each one does, so you know what to ask for before you come in.
What is nida fabric?
Nida is the gold standard for abayas in the Gulf, and it is what most of our floor is made from. It is a high-quality lightweight polyester blend, exceptionally soft and breathable, with an elegant drape and either a subtle sheen or a matte finish.
It stays comfortable in high temperatures but is polished enough for occasions as well as daily wear. If you are buying your first abaya and are not sure what to ask for, nida is the answer.
What is the difference between crepe and nida?
Crepe has a slightly twisted, textured surface where nida is smoother. That texture is not decorative: it is why crepe resists wrinkles and holds its shape through a day without clinging.
Crepe is the most popular choice for office and professional settings, and for structured silhouettes. Nida drapes more softly.
Which abaya fabric is best for peak summer in Abu Dhabi?
Premium nida, linen or cotton. Linen is a natural fibre and exceptionally breathable with genuine cooling properties, though it wrinkles more readily than synthetic blends. Cotton is the practical everyday option for errands — breathable and cool, but without the formal drape of nida or crepe.
Silk and satin are generally avoided for daytime in the regional heat, whatever the occasion.
What is the difference between chiffon and georgette?
Chiffon is sheer and very light, used mainly as a decorative over-layer or with an inner lining, because it is semi-transparent on its own. It is a staple of formal and evening designs.
Georgette looks similar but is denser, heavier and more opaque. It gives a stronger drape and snags less, which makes it the more durable of the two for a light, elegant abaya.
Which fabrics suit weddings and evening events?
Silk, satin and layered chiffon. These are the high-end choices, with a rich glossy finish, and they are reserved almost exclusively for weddings and evening occasions — both because of the heat and because they need more careful maintenance.
Does the fabric change the price?
Yes, and it is the main thing that does. A plain nida abaya sits at the lower end of our range; silk, satin and heavily embroidered pieces sit at the top. The cut and the work cost the same either way — the cloth is the variable.

How much does an abaya cost?
Ready-to-wear starts at AED 70 and made-to-measure at AED 100. The final price depends on the fabric and the detailing.
How long does made-to-measure take?
Normally 5 to 7 days. We take nine measurements and you come back for one fitting. A 1-day express order is possible on request, depending on the situation.
