Blue Diamond makes abayas to measure in Abu Dhabi from AED 100, taking nine measurements and one fitting, ready in 5 to 7 days. A 1-day express order is possible on request. Bring a design of your own or choose from the collection and change what you want changed.
A mall brand sells you the size that is closest. We cut to your measurements, in the fabric you choose, in the design you bring us. That is the whole difference, and it costs from AED 100.
Can I bring my own design?
Yes. Bring a photograph, a screenshot, or a piece you already own. We cut patterns here, so working from a design you have chosen is ordinary work rather than a special request.
If something in the design will not hang well in the fabric you have picked, we will say so before we cut rather than after.
Can I change a design from your collection?
Yes — that is the point of buying from the people who made it. Change the length, the sleeve, the neckline or the fit, or ask for the same cut in a different fabric or colour.
A shop that buys finished abayas can only sell you what came in the box. We can cut it again.
How much does a custom abaya cost?
From AED 100. The final price follows the fabric and the detailing — plain crepe sits at the lower end, heavy embroidery and silk at the higher. We quote before we cut, not after.
How long does it take?
Normally 5 to 7 days from measuring to collection. A 1-day express order is possible on request, depending on what is already in the workroom — ask and we will tell you honestly whether we can do it.
Can you copy a design I already own?
Yes. Bring the piece or a photograph. We have been cutting patterns on this street since 1990, and reproducing a cut you already like is routine work — often in a better fabric than the original.
Can I order from outside Abu Dhabi?
Yes. Send your measurements over WhatsApp and we will tell you what we need. We ship across the UAE and worldwide at the courier’s own rate — there is no free delivery, and we would rather say so than surprise you at the end.
Do you do embroidery and stone work?
Yes, and all of it is done here. We do not send embellishment out to a third party, which means we can change it while the piece is still on the table rather than after it comes back.
How much does embroidery or stone work cost?
It follows three things: how long the work takes, the quality of the stones, and how many are used. Those vary enough between designs that a single number would be misleading.
Bring or describe the design and we will quote before any work starts. Embellishment is the part of an abaya where a vague estimate helps nobody.
How much longer does an embroidered or stone-set abaya take?
Add two to three days. A plain made-to-measure abaya is normally ready in 5 to 7 days; an embroidered or stone-set piece is usually 7 to 10.
Is your embroidery done by hand?
Hand and machine, both done here. Which one a design calls for depends on the work itself — some patterns are only possible by hand, and some are cleaner by machine.
Because every task is done in this building, we can put the two together on one piece rather than choosing between them.
Can you add embroidery or stones to an abaya I already own?
Yes, including an abaya you bought somewhere else. Bring it in and we will look at the fabric first — what a cloth will carry depends on its weight, and there is no point setting heavy stone work on something that will not hold it.
We quote the work and the time before we start, the same as any other job.
Can you combine two designs?
Yes. The sleeve from one, the cut from another, the embroidery from a third — this is ordinary work for us because we cut the patterns here rather than ordering finished pieces.
Bring both designs, as photographs or as garments, and tell us which part you want from each.
How does made-to-measure work?
- Choose the fabric from the roll. Nida, crepe, linen, georgette or silk, handled before you commit.
- Bring a design you have seen, or pick from the collection and tell us what to change.
- We take nine measurements. This is the step a rack size cannot replicate.
- Come back for one fitting, normally 5 to 7 days later.
- We finish and you collect. If something still is not right, we adjust it.

Is your embroidery done by hand or by machine?
Both, and both are done in-house. Some patterns are only possible by hand and some are cleaner by machine, so a single piece may use either or both. Every task is done in this building, including stone work.
Do you do embroidery and stone work on abayas?
