How to measure for an abaya
A made-to-measure abaya at Blue Diamond is cut from nine measurements taken in the shop, with one fitting, ready in 5 to 7 days from AED 100. If you cannot come in, you can measure at home and send the numbers over WhatsApp.
A rack size is the closest guess to your body. Nine measurements is not a guess. Here is what gets measured and how to take the numbers yourself if you are not in Abu Dhabi.
Can I send my measurements on WhatsApp?
Yes. Send the numbers and we will tell you if anything looks off before we cut. If you have an abaya that already fits you well, measuring that flat on a table is often more accurate than measuring yourself — send those numbers instead and say which piece they came from.
What if the measurements are slightly wrong?
That is what the fitting is for. You come back once, we mark any adjustment, and we finish it. For orders we ship, tell us as soon as it arrives and we will talk through what needs changing.
How long does a made-to-measure abaya take?
Normally 5 to 7 days from measuring to collection. A 1-day express order is possible on request, depending on what is already in the workroom.
How do I measure myself at home?
- Wear close-fitting clothes and stand straight, feet together, in front of a mirror.
- Shoulder: measure across the back from the point of one shoulder to the other.
- Full length: from the top of the shoulder straight down to where you want the hem to sit, usually just off the floor with the shoes you will wear.
- Sleeve length: from the shoulder point down the outside of the arm to the wrist bone, arm relaxed.
- Chest and waist: around the fullest part, tape level, snug but not pulled tight.
- Write every number in centimetres and note your usual height and shoe heel.

How long does made-to-measure take?
Normally 5 to 7 days. We take nine measurements and you come back for one fitting. A 1-day express order is possible on request, depending on the situation.
Do you deliver?
Yes, across the UAE and worldwide. You can send measurements over WhatsApp. Delivery is charged at the courier’s own rate — we do not offer free delivery.
